There's always a lot of excitement before Christmas. This year my kids were right there in the kitchen with me making up all the Christmas plates. I had to snap a few pictures to capture a few classic moments. Here, Hunter is helping to make peanut butter balls only he hates peanut butter and couldn't even handle the smell. He found that if he pinned his nose shut, he could still help.
Emma sat and moved cookies from the hot pan to the cooling rack while we rotated batch after batch, for at least an hour, probably longer.

Austin was our expert sampler.

I'm not always good about letting my kids help in the kitchen. I like things to be done a certain way, especially when I am cooking for other people. Most of the pans of cookies that my kids helped take out of the oven looked like this.

You know, the thumb and the hot pad smash that corner cookie every time.... Oh well, I really didn't care all that much, we were having such a great time that it just didn't matter. I was surprised at how much my kids were able to help with and from now on, they're hired.
