Boys

Happy Birthday Hunter!

Hunter turned 7 today. I Love birthdays. I think it stems from my childhood. My mom always thought of birthdays as a time to boost our confidence and build us up by showering us with attention and spending quality time with us. My parents didn't spend a lot of money, but my mom was always thoughtful and planned fun parties or activities that were perfect. Now that I have my own children, I love birthdays even more. It gives me the opportunity to shower them with that same love and attention and it also gives me a chance to reflect on their sweet lives. Hunter is such a fun, loving, silly kid. He was such a sweet baby (once we figured him out) and has grown into such a fun little boy. He is a great helper and a fun playmate to everyone.

I always let my kids request the menu for each of the meals on their birthdays. Hunter wanted lucky charms, blue pancakes, red eggs, bacon, and orange juice. That is so him.

Emma, Austin, and I went to school to eat lunch with Hunter. We brought him his own pizza and chocolate milk! Hunter wanted Austin to wear his birthday crown. That got all the kids around us laughing which brought on all kinds of silliness. Each of the boys surrounding us started trying to one up each other with their jokes. One kid said, "When I was in kindergarten I licked my feet and ate my boogers." I shook my head thinking about how different boys are from girls when out of the corner of my eye I saw Hunter responding to that by licking the bottom of his tennis shoe from one end to the other... "like this" he said. Yuk!

We sure love Hunter and feel lucky to have him in our family. Life would be so dull without his bright smile and spunk. Happy Birthday kiddo!

Happy birthday, Hunter! What a good lookin' guy you are. :) I loved your colorful breakfast choice!

And Camille, I agree with you, boys are definitely gross sometimes--but oh, so cute!

Oh my gosh...I love that first picture of Austin and Hunter. I can't believe how much Austin has changed already from when I saw him just a few weeks ago. He's so dang cute.

I, too, LOVE birthdays. My mom always made my birthday special too, so I feel an obligation to do the same for my kids.
