I have fond memories of participating in the reflections program as a child. It's been fun watching Linsey participate these last 2 years. She spent hours and days creating a book last year that came home with an honorable mention. I thought it should have received much more recognition knowing all the hard work that went into it, but I'm also biased.
This year, much less time was spent on a visual arts project, but Linsey had a creative idea that seemed to catch the eye of the judges. The theme was "I can make a difference by..." Linsey drew a picture of a plane flying over a house pulling a banner that said I can make a difference by helping my mom . (- what a gal eh?) She drew a house and cut all the windows and doors so they could open, then she drew pictures of herself doing things to help mom.

She was awarded 3rd place at her Elementary school and her project was entered into a district competition. We went to an awards ceremony on Saturday where she received an award for 1st place. Now her project will be sent to a state competition! Wow! She is thrilled and we are proud of her. Way to go Linsey!

Yeah for Linsey! That is great! How sweet that her idea was ways to help you- she is such a sweet girl and I'm sure she is such a great helper. I see her with Olivia at church and when she held Mitchell and she is so grown up and motherly.
How fun for her to win a competition too- I remember winning a regional writing competition when I was in first grade and it really is quite the self-esteem boost.
Great idea and the art work looks great, too. Definitely something for the whole family to be proud about!
She did a great job.
Wow-I'm really impressed-what a great project! I love how the doors and windows are cut out. Good luck with state Linsey!
