Eight and Feeling Great

Hunter recently turned eight. Yesterday he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He looked so grown up in his new suit.
The whole day was perfect! I thought the talks were really nice. Sister Ricks talked about Baptism. She talked about how neat it feels to come out of the water and know that you are perfect, all your sins are washed away and you are clean in the eyes of God. She remembered that when she was newly baptized she thought that maybe she could never do anything wrong again but soon realized that just wasn't possible. Every week, we have the opportunity to come to church and partake of the sacrament and repent and renew our baptismal covenants.

Another speaker asked each of the kids being baptized to think about their favorite gift they got for their birthday. Then she told them that in 8 years, that toy might be broken or lost or they may not think it's all that cool anymore. But, the gift they would receive today, the gift of the Holy Ghost, is a gift they can have in 8 years, 20 years, even in 40 years. Forever.

The spirit was strong. Jared baptized and confirmed Hunter. I am so proud of both of them. Hunter's blessing was very special. I asked him how he felt afterward and he said, "Really good mom, I feel really, really good!"

Bishop Hatch asked Hunter to look around the room at all his family and friends and take a picture of his feelings. I asked Hunter what he was feeling then and he said he felt proud, loved, and happy.

It was a perfect day. We are so grateful for our family and friends that came out to support Hunter. We missed those who couldn't be there, but felt your love.

We are so grateful that Hunter is a part of our family. He brings a special spirit to our family. Hunter is very thoughtful and sensitive to others. He is always the first to let someone else have what they want, even if it means giving up something that he has. Hunter is obedient and tries hard to do what is right. He loves scripture stories and will recall his favorites remembering every detail. Hunter is fun, he loves being with friends and making them laugh. Hunter has a genuine love and concern for others. He can be silly and have us all laughing, but he can also sense when Jared or I need extra help and will surprise us by emptying the dishwasher or helping out with Austin without being asked. His thoughtfulness brings a sweet feeling into our home. We love him very much!

What a wonderful day! We were probably enjoying baptisms at the exact same time. Leia was baptized on Saturday also. What an amazing experience to see them learning and growing. Congratulations!

Yeah Hunter! So exciting! I can't believe he is that old already, I just remember him sitting in my high chair eating grilled cheese and banana slices. Wow...has it really been 7 years since I've seen you last? We need to remedy that I think.
